    WHY SUNSPEED?

    Safe and Secure – At Sunspeed, our technical team understand the critical importance of high quality equipment cabling and cable management and work to ensure the whole Data Centre Cabling process including Rack Tidy and Cable Refresh is delivered to be manageable, cost effective and set up for future demands.

    Project Coordination – No matter the size or scope, a dedicated project coordinator is assigned to all projects. As the main point of contact whilst a project is in delivery, the project coordinator is responsible for coordinating site surveys, scheduling, briefing the engineering teams and everything in between.

    WILL YOU AUDIT ALL CABLES PRIOR TO DISCONNECTION?

    We will run a full technical audit to map out and trace all cables prior to disconnection. We will create a full rack-plan and patching schedule. This means we know exactly how everything should go back together again.

    CAN YOU TIDY MY IT RACKS OUT OF HOURS?

    Yes. Most companies will schedule refresh activities out of business hours. This means that their business / users suffers no downtime. Usually we recommend completing works over the weekend or multiple weekends depending on the size and scope of the project.

    WHO WILL BE UNDERTAKING THE WORK?

    Each and every project we deliver is aligned to a dedicated technical project manager. Our project manager will be there to support you through every stage of the project. Our project manager will work closely with our in-house engineers to plan and execute the physical on-site works.

    CAN WE USE THIS AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO TRANSFORM / UPDATE?

    Of course. Projects of this nature are a great opportunity to run technical refresh activities. Whether that means consolidating equipment into fewer racks, retiring legacy equipment or introducing new equipment, this is a great time to undertake transformation activities.

    Our technical project manager will work with you to understand your full objectives before making recommendations and supporting you in the design of your environment.

    WILL YOU SUPPLY NEW CABLES?

    We will re-use any specialist / PRO cables however for everything else it’s generally considered best practice to install new cable materials. This is because over time cables can develop kinks and bends which can cause them to stop working if moved. We also often find that one of the reasons IT environments become messy and unorganised is due to the wrong length of cable being used. Part of the process of neatening everything up will involve identifying if the wrong cable lengths and looking to replace these with more appropriate lengths (1m cable for a 1m run. Not a 3m cable for a 1m run).

    If however you’d like us to reuse cables or you have existing spares then it’s no problem – We also have a number of techniques to dress cables neatly. If it is decided that new cables should be ordered then we can supply the new materials and ensure everything is labelled correctly.
