Background
A UK city council operates its own IT infrastructure to maintain control over critical public services, protect sensitive citizen data, and ensure continuity across housing, social care, finance, and democratic systems.
As part of a broader hybrid IT strategy, the council was deploying two new platforms in secure public-sector data centres in Manchester to increase the proportion of infrastructure managed in-house. Each site was designed to host four server racks, providing a platform for future growth and giving the council greater control over critical systems.

The Requirement
The council needed a robust, clearly defined structured cabling solution to underpin its in house IT platform. The requirement was to improve reliability and visibility at the physical layer while working within a live environment.
All activity had to be delivered without disruption to essential services and in line with public sector security and governance standards. The solution also needed to support future infrastructure change without repeated physical rework.
