A global life sciences organisation was expanding its network infrastructure across two data centre halls in Frankfurt as part of a wider programme to support increasing demand across its European operations.
Delivery responsibility sat with a specialist infrastructure services partner, with Sunspeed engaged to manage and execute the physical deployment layer within the data centre environment. The objective was to ensure a complex high availability network build was delivered in line with design intent, with controlled execution across multiple phases and a smooth transition into service.

The CHALLENGE
The programme required the coordinated deployment of a large volume of enterprise networking and security infrastructure across two facilities, alongside extensive structured cabling works.
While the design and architecture had already been defined, successful delivery depended on tight control of execution in a high density environment where sequencing, accuracy and coordination directly impacted commissioning outcomes.
Key delivery requirements included:
- Deployment of more than 100 enterprise network and security devices across both data halls
- Installation of structured fibre and copper cabling based on customer provided design documentation
- Strict adherence to rack elevations, port mapping and installation standards across multiple vendors
- Full end to end testing of cabling to support validation and acceptance
- Coordination of multiple installation phases aligned to wider programme milestones

THE SOLUTIONS
unspeed acted as the on site delivery lead, managing the end to end physical deployment across both Frankfurt facilities on behalf of the infrastructure services partner.
Working directly from customer supplied designs and rack layouts, Sunspeed planned, sequenced and controlled all installation activity across multiple phases. This included the deployment of 107 network and security devices spanning switching, routing, firewall, load balancing and management platforms from Cisco, Palo Alto and F5.
Alongside hardware deployment, Sunspeed managed the structured cabling programme across both data halls, overseeing the installation of approximately 300 fibre and copper connections and associated cable management systems. This ensured consistent routing standards, clean installation practices and long term serviceability across the environment.
All cabling was tested following installation, with results documented and handed over to support commissioning and acceptance. Sunspeed also coordinated on site activity during integration and go live preparation, ensuring alignment between installation progress and wider programme requirements.
OUTCOMES
By taking ownership of on site delivery, Sunspeed enabled the infrastructure services partner and end customer to transition from design to a fully built, high availability ready infrastructure environment with controlled execution across both sites.
For the end customer, the programme delivered a production ready network platform capable of supporting critical applications across European operations, with a fully installed and validated infrastructure base to support commissioning and service activation.
For the infrastructure services partner, Sunspeed provided delivery control within the data centre environment, reducing the need to manage fragmented on site activity. This improved coordination efficiency, reduced execution risk and supported consistent delivery across a multi phase international programme.
