Case Study: Desktop Deployment for Trading Firm

Sunspeed provided end-user IT delivery and installation services into a central London office. 

Background

Sunspeed is the incumbent supplier of physical IT services for an AI-powered trading firm, providing both data centre and workplace change and management services.

The client was expanding their central London office into additional floors to accommodate significant increase in headcount and a return-to-office initiative. The new office area would serve as a trading floor for global markets.

The Requirement

The client was opening workstations for 108 users, as-well as 2 bespoke meeting rooms with advanced AV installation. Some monitors and equipment were moving from lower levels to free up more social/meeting space, meaning Sunspeed was also required to manage the secure and specialist transport of devices between locations. 

The floor had active end-users and was a 24/7 office to enable their global trading operations; this meant speed and efficiency was paramount. The advanced desk setup also required precise installation and effective cable management, not only for aesthetic purposes, but also to provide users with a clean and performance-centred environment within which to operate.

The Solution

Sunspeed first consolidated all equipment into our secure warehouse, asset tagging and labelling all devices for delivery. The teams then delivered equipment to site in anti-static packing materials, while another team managed the movement of existing on-site equipment. 

Sunspeed’s on-site engineering team was then dispatched to site to conduct the installation, supported by on-site project managers. They attached monitors to arms, affixed cable management and dressed cables to monitors, PCs and floor-panels. All devices were tested and all cable runs were thoroughly inspected for visual tidiness and risk. 

In the meeting rooms, heavy and specialist AV equipment was mounted appropriately and cables dressed discretely for a modern appearance and minimal visual interference. 

Our teams managed the deployment in a single phase during a planned downtime period where active users were relocated to other spaces. 

The Outcome

Sunspeed’s solution enabled the rapid opening of the new trading floor, supporting the client’s goal of getting users into the office and working effectively. 

The precision of our installations created a sleek and distraction-free environment, which suited the functionality of a high-pressure financial services organisation. 

The deployment was fully successful, with no users reporting any difficulties following the setup. The seamlessness of the service ensured client IT teams were free to manage BAU tasks including end-user support services to keep the business running.
