The client owned and operated a site in central London with was becoming unprofitable and falling without the organisation’s forward strategy.
The site still hosted multiple colocation clients who needed to be removed to other sites. Sunspeed was engaged by the customer to conduct a thorough audit of the current infrastructure to provide both them and their tenants with clarity on the current state-of-play and to enable future works.

Racks audited.
The Requirement
The customer site was a large data hall containing over 150 x racks and hosting over 30 clients. Many of the racks were unpopulated, however Sunspeed was still required to audit 115 x racks containing customer equipment.
The Solution
Sunspeed provided resident engineering resource for a month while conducting the audit, supported by a technical project management team which integrated data and liaised with the customer teams.
Our reports were provided to the colocation tenants, and our team provided workshops with the end-customers to support their decision making and any infrastructure change activities.
We documented physical infrastructure information using our bespoke infrastructure planner which includes information on rack layouts and patching schedules, providing high-resolution vision of the entire environment.

The Outcome
Sunspeed’s solution enabled the end customer to establish a clear plan for dilapidating the site and provided clarity and guidance to end-customers. Our service also supported our customer to gain trust with their end-customers, and aided them in retaining business despite the imminent dilapidation.
Sunspeed were also then selected to complete ongoing activities including relocating clients to new sites, as-well as decommissioning the current environment including removing containment and structured cabling.
