Overview
Sunspeed was engaged by a large Telecommunications customer to conduct a Data Centre Relocation on behalf of one of their customers. The customer required Sunspeed to relocate 3 x racks and over 45 devices on an end-to-end basis. Our team implemented a solution that included conducting a full hardware and end-to-end cable trace audit, gathering the appropriate data to design the destination infrastructure with input from customer teams. A pre-cable was completed, where copper and fibre connectivity is pre-dressed into the racks, ready for devices to be installed on the day of the relocation; this allowed for reduced downtime and a more efficient Connect & Dress exercise. The end-customer was impressed with the level of service provided by the customer and Sunspeed's partnership and engaged the customer to complete future works for them.
THE PROJECT
Infrastructure Design
Sunspeed assisted with the capture of base data to create the destination infrastructure plan including rack plans and patching schedule/cabling matrix.
Cable Supply
Sunspeed provided copper & fibre cabling from leading cable manufacturers to customer colour specification.
Extended Handover Support
Provision of overnight handover support to assist with layer 1 troubleshooting during testing & configuration sequence.
Hardware & End-to-End Cable Trace Audit
Sunspeed undertook a thorough audit of the source environment to capture the data to plan the migration and design destination infrastructure.
Handover Support
Sunspeed understands that alongside meticulous planning, the physical migration of critical IT infrastructure requires flexibility. We have built this requirement into our Data Centre Relocation process; once the final data connections are made, Sunspeed's engineers will remain on-site to provide layer 1 support while your teams are managing the power-up and testing sequence. We can perform troubleshooting as-well as make amendments to connections or device positioning if required. All customers who engage Sunspeed for assistance with patching will receive 2 hours as standard, with the option to extend this as required. BT chose to build extended handover support into the project, guaranteeing layer 1 support and enabling their teams to complete the testing and configuration process before the migration window closed.
