The year is 1987 and.....

  • Hurricane winds battered the UK
  • Bill Gates became microcomputing's first billionaire
  • Margaret Thatcher became the first British Prime Minister to be elected three times
  • Black Monday - stock markets fall sharply around the world
  • Interest rate was 8.38%
  • Docklands City Airport opens

.........and Sunspeed collected and delivered its first desktop PC!

The world has seen many changes over the last 25 years in terms of technology, research and the uncertain economic environment.

Throughout all these changes, Sunspeed have continued to move with the times, embrace the new technology to our advantage and grow year upon year. We are proud to be able to claim that we are leaders in the IT relocation industry with a client listing that proves our worth.

When we first entered the business all those years ago, the equipment we were being asked to move was much larger and bulkier. In the early days the only requirement was for the kit to be delivered safely and on time. Coming right up to date we are now required to relocate entire data centres with an understanding of the complexity of the configurations and to be aware of the financial investment that has been made by the client.

We were never a '9-5' - 'Monday - Friday' kind of company.....right from the beginning we went that extra mile to help out customers who had a last minute urgent request. That service has continued throughout the years and with the economic pressures being placed on large companies to outperform their competitors, time is even more critical.  Weekend and 'out-of-hours' relocations are now the standard for Sunspeed. Although some of the equipment we are now asked to relocate has shrunk in size over the years, the data centre relocations have taken on another dimension - that of high security. Protecting the client's information is crucial and because we are known in the industry for our security clearance personnel and accreditations, we are the first call for major blue chip companies who want peace of mind.

We achieved ISO9001 status and have now applied for ISO27001, one of the most rigorous international standards, but one which we think will only enhance our position in the industry.

Datacentre security and safety is paramount and all the equipment used by us for these relocations is 'data centre friendly'. Custom-built, anti-static' flight cases ensure minimum handling, reducing the risk of movement.

Still a family-owned company and although we have grown,  that personal element has never been lost and our top priority has always been to our customers' requirements and the service offered to them. In today's competitive and economically-challenged world, a company not putting their customers first would not have lasted 25 years.

We would like to personally thank all our past and present clients who have put their trust in Sunspeed and look forward to welcoming new partners over the coming years.

Here's to the next 25!!
