Our Client.

Our client is a leading international services corporation, providing integrated design, build and operating solutions to large multi-national clients in carefully targeted industry sectors. Like Sunspeed, their business approach is based on establishing long-term partnerships that encourage success through mutual benefit.

The Brief.

To relocate the client's entire IT operations to a new purpose-built hosting facility in the North of England. However, there was a period of time between moving from the old premises in Cardiff to the new that required all their equipment to be temporarily stored before the final relocation. With the value of the equipment being in excess of £2M, it was imperative that storage facilities be secure and trustworthy.

The Project.

Sunspeed were approached with less than 24 hours notice to remove the client's equipment from the hosting centre in Cardiff and relocate to our secure storage facilities in Farnborough, which are covered by CCTV and monitoring services and were fully inspected and approved by the client prior to undertaking the project. The specialist equipment to be relocated consisted of eight fully populated HP 7000's, each weighing 225kgs, a number of rack-mounted servers DL380/DL360/DL585 and one fully populated HP EVA8000.

Our specialised, purpose-built, 18ton vehicle was used for this project with its full air-ride suspension to protect the sensitive hardware from vibration. The large platform tail-lift has a lifting capacity of 3000kgs. The benefit of the platform tail-lift is that it enables our trained personnel to have plenty of space to load the equipment safely and securely, minimising risk to personnel and the client's equipment.

The C7000 blade chassis and remaining servers were packed in our custom-built flight cases. These are manufactured from aircraft grade plastic and lined with anti-static foam, offering maximum protection for the equipment whilst remaining 'data centre friendly' - minimising the amount of dust and particles that can be disruptive to highly sophisticated IT equipment.

The work was completed ahead of schedule and due to Sunspeed being able to accommodate this priority request, resulted in a saving to our client of over £200K in building rental fees.

Another successful project completed on behalf of our client who have a long-standing relationship with Sunspeed and with whom we have established a very valuable working partnership.

" The degree of professionalism and enthusiasm which we encountered during the project was impressive to say the least, their willingness to assist and go beyond the standard terms of reference certainly made a clear statement of their work ethics. Once again, thank you to your team for the rapid response and the professionalism with which the project was handled".
