The Brief

We received a request to bid for a large data centre migration involving approximately 50% of the investment corporations' equipment. Once again, as with so many of our major projects, the work was required to be carried out during the weekends to save the customer downtime and to minimise disruption to  business-critical dealings.  Approximate number of servers to be migrated was 800.

The Project

share_prices_graphFollowing an extensive tender process, during which examples of previous like-for-like projects were requested, we were successful in our bid and assigned a dedicated Project Manager who liaised closely with the client and our team of operators. Following a comprehensive site survey to eliminate any problems, the IT relocation from the client's previous production site into two new purpose-built environments took place over a period of eight months. The longer than usual timescale for this was due to multiple business applications having to be transferred on a gradual basis so as to cause the least interruption to the client's business critical operations.

Sunspeed provided the IT equipment decommissioningtransportation and recommissioning of the all the IT equipment.   Following decommission, all the sensitive parts were secured in our custom-built anti-static flight cases, that not only look very professional, but ensure that all the most sensitive and costly equipment is carried with the utmost care and attention. At the new site we project-managed the recommissioning and data centre cabling to restore the servers to an operational stage, resulting in the project being completed on schedule, with another  very satisfied customer.
