The Brief
To achieve the migration of approximately 750 Servers from a location in the South of England to new premises in Wakefield, Yorkshire. Sunspeed was successful in the bid for this business, largely due to previous similar projects that were presented to the client, thereby demonstrating our skills in multiple servers moves.
The Project
The vital requirement for this project, was that it had to be completed in its entirety within a 24 hour window. Sunspeed worked closely with the customer to provide full project management to cover all transportation, de-racking, re-racking and cabling at the new data centre.
A comprehensive site survey was carried out by the dedicated Project Manager, which included an audit of the equipment and a team of six were assigned to the project. All were thoroughly briefed on their roles to ensure the smooth transition from one datacentre to another. Each and every one of the Servers required de-racking, with the sensitive components being packed in anti-static flight cases.
On arrival at the new Datacentre, racks were re-assembled, cabliing was checked and the project was signed off at the end of each phase. This thorough approach ensured that all elements of the project were completed within the timeframe to ensure the minimum of the customer's business downtime.
