From that small beginning, our customers soon recognised that Sunspeed were going that extra mile with customer service and projects soon progressed to multiple server moves and total Data Centre migrations. Sunspeed continues to be a successful and rapidly expanding company.

Frequently asked questions

  • What do you move?

We are a specialist IT and server relocation company. So whether you have 2 or 2,000 servers to move, server racks which need relocating, desktop PC’s, Plotters and Printers to migrate as part of an office relocation, or anything else in between which is highly sensitive and of high value, Sunspeed is here to help.

  • Where do you operate?

We service the whole of the UK and Europe through our dedicated service using our own engineers and vehicles, as well as the rest of the world through a combination of our trusted partner network and our international air freight and packing service, which is tailored to your exact needs.

  • Will our equipment be insured?

Our Goods in Transit Insurance is one of the most comprehensive policies on the market, made even stronger by a faultless 28 year history. We are able to provide insurance cover up to £3m with no single item limit, at an additional cost. Any relocation, which requires an excess of £3m are subject to underwriter approval.

  • Are the relocation engineers trained?

Our engineers go through a number of in house training courses, which have been written and maintained over the companies 28 years of professionalism and experience. We work in some of the strictest DC environments and the way we conduct ourselves onsite is always gets recognised by the client and DC operators.

  • At what point do you take control?

Sunspeed has the ability to run client projects from beginning to end, so the question really is, where would you like us to take control?

  • What steps do you take to minimise any security risks?

All of our relocation engineers have been security cleared to a minimum of SC, and we have a number of engineers that are cleared to SC Enhanced. With this clearance we have undergone a number of security briefings, which makes our general awareness to security heightened.

All of our vehicles are unmarked; we feel the security of your equipment whilst in transit is more important than our branding.

All of our flight cases can be padlocked and sealed with anti-tamper seals.

All of our vehicles are GPS tracked, we can also provide a client log which will allow you to track your assets in real time during your Data Centre relocation.

All of our vehicles have additional deadlocks, and sealed bulkheads, which provides an additional layer of physical security to your server relocation project.

  • What steps do you take to minimise any physical risks?

From air-ride vehicles, to protective flooring and spreader plates, to server lifters and stair walkers, Sunspeed implements a number of strategies to keep your equipment safe, which when combined with 28 years of experience and technical expertise, makes for a winning combination.

  • What is a pre-patch?

Pre-patch involves cabling the destination rack ahead of a relocation. This means that come relocation day, the servers can be connected and dressed in quickly and efficiently, ultimately allowing organisations to minimise their down-time. Other benefits of pre-patching the environment also include the ability to forecast and minimise potential issues long before they happen, as well as generating rich information which can be used when planning future projects and technical refresh activities.

  • Does Sunspeed get involved in new-hardware installations?

Yes. We work with our clients to co-ordinate entire install projects. From taking delivery and cross-checking the inventory, to staging any build activities and racking all equipment as per the client provided rack elevation diagrams. We’ll even remove all the packing from site.
